So It Begins
I can't believe it's been so long since my last post! The days are just a blur. I'd been meaning to stop in this past week but studying swallowed up all my time. I completely lose track of the days when I'm not in classes. My concept of time surrounds which meal is coming up next (ha! but really...).
Classes are over (yay!) and I'm spending the next two months studying for a bunch of exams, most notably my board exam (Step 1). I'm settling into my new routine which is completely self-structured, and I'm a little bit nervous about it because honestly, structure is what keeps me focused. I love spontaneity in my free time and while doing creative things, but the scholarly part of my brain thrives on schedules and lists. Here's hoping that I can learn all the things without going crazy!
While I'll be spending the majority of my time studying, there's still life beyond the boards! Spencer and I are going to be taking a much needed vacation after I finish my exam. We get almost three weeks off before starting our first clinical and I plan on enjoying every last second of that free time. Happy weekend!!

I'm so jealous that you guys get 2 months off. We are almost done with classes too, but they keep us annoyingly in stupid classes so I technically only have 6 days off between the end of school and my boards. SO needless to say, I hate my school and I'm already so over board studying, so I'm right there with you in misery :)
ReplyDeleteUgh that's so annoying. It's like a tease - so close to "freedom", but not quite! I totally hear you girl - lets just fast forward to being real people and doing something other than sitting in a classroom all day!
DeleteLucky you guys have off! The second years at my school don't get much time off, so they're studying for both classes and boards at the same time. Awesome you already have a much needed vacation schedule for afterwards. Hang in there, I know you'll do amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou're the sweetest Ele - thank-you! Studying for both would definitely be a challenge. We're technically studying for the NBME shelf exams right now, but it doubles as Step studying since they cover the same stuff. All I can say is that vacation can't come soon enough!
DeleteGood luck studying! If you ever get some time away from your books, I would love to see what schedule you are using to study. I'm hoping to get into school next year so I'm trying to learn as much from you guys about studying and balancing personal life with school.

Thanks Roxi! I'd be happy to share it - with the disclaimer that I won't know how well it worked until a few months from now, haha! So exciting to hear that your applying to med school! Best of luck - I know how nerve-wracking the whole process can be!!
