I spotted gold-edged geode coasters on Shopbop a while back and fell in love with the natural meets luxe design. The set was $140 and although I saw some sets for much cheaper on Etsy, I thought that this would be a perfect DIY project. It's so easy even a second-year med student has time to do it!
I bought the geodes from a tiny shop in Tennessee called the Rock Shop. Neither Spencer or I get excited about the stereotypical souvenirs (T-shirts, shot glasses, etc.), but I thought that this was the perfect way to take a piece of Tennessee back with us. After adding gold paint to the rough edges, I swept the brush along the edges of the smooth surfaces to create a feathered border. They make the perfect coaster set with a chic, natural design.
